Art in Barcelona
Course DescriptionImmerse yourself in the cosmopolitan cultural center of Barcelona. Roam the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter in search of Roman ruins, historic cathedrals, open air markets, and rooftop views of the sea. Explore Gaudi's masterpieces including the other-worldy Sagrada Familia. Visit modern and contemporary art museums dedicated to masters like Picasso and Miro.
Students must be prepared to walk/stand for up to 8 hours and 8 miles each day in the sun. All student must co-enroll in ART1823 or ART1100 and ART2212 or 2213. **Dates and itinerary subject to slight change until airfare is purchased. |
On-campus dates: two Fridays, 10AM-12:50PM.
Field Study: Dates TBD. Registration opens Summer of 2024. Please register by December 15 to ensure you seat! Fee: $TBD for double occupancy. Students will need to bring an extra $15 for a Metro ticket (more if taxis are preferred) and an optional $5-15 euros for rooftop cathedral views. |

What to Pack
Space is limited to one suitcase and one backpack per student. Below are some practical suggestions of what to include.
- Passport and copy of passport
- Water bottle
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Lightweight packable brimmed hat
- Security money belt
- Lightweight long sleeve shirt
- Warm layers
- Umbrella and waterproof layer
- Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes and hiking socks
- Travel pack of Kleenex (not all bathrooms have toilet paper)
- Travel-size hand sanitizer (not all bathrooms have soap)
- 2 credit/debit cards (leave one in safe at hotel, just in case)
- Phone with Google Translate; Google maps is also recommended
- Ear plugs
- Wash cloth
- Camera/camera phone, battery charging pack (optional)
- Notebook & pencil
- Travel hair dryer if needed
